Steve John Lassan, 94, of Washington, died Saturday, June 15, 2013, in Evergreen Personal Care.
He was born September 15, 1918, in Brownsville, a son of Joseph Lassan and Julia Ambrose Lassan.
Mr. Lassan worked as an engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad and enjoyed fishing.
He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
During World War II, he served in the Army with Company A, 255th Combat Engineering Battalion, in the European Theater, where he was involved in battles in Rome-Arno and Po Valley. For his service, he was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with two bronze stars, American Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
On November 10, 1939, he married Helen Leffler, who died June 29, 1981.
Surviving are a son, Steve John Lassan, Jr. (Doreen) of Washington; a daughter, Evelyn Manson (Thomas) of Cleveland, Ohio; four grandchildren, Tom, John, Janet and Gregg; and seven great-grandchildren, Jeffry, Jeremy, Hannah, David, Luke, Anna and Leia.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 22nd, in Kingdom Hall, 70 Cleveland Road, Washington, PA 15301.
