John Lawrence Kopenshek, 66, of Canonsburg, died on Friday, June 14, 2013, in the Donnell House, following a 3-year battle with cancer.
He was born on January 29, 1947, in Washington, a son of the late John Joseph and Mary Lawrence Kopenshek.
A 1965 graduate of Trinity High School, he also graduated from Robert Morris University.
Mr. Kopenshek worked as a facilities manager for BNY Mellon, from 1965 until 2007.
He had served in the U.S. Army Reserves, in the 630th Transportation Division.
On September 18, 1971, he married Caroline Kurek, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Bryan Lawrence Kopenshek, of North Strabane; a sister, Carol (Robert) Brosnahan, of South Strabane; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a sister, Janet Weeks.
At the request of the deceased there was no public visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
