WWII, Korean War vet was steelworker, outdoorsman.
Robert Martin, 89, of Washington, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, in Washington Hospital.
He was born March 22, 1924, in Uniontown, a son of Ruben Martin and Josephine Bryan Martin.
Mr. Martin was a graduate of South Union High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War.
He was a steelworker for Abrasive Metals in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Martin was a member of Friendship Community Church and American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175. In addition, he was a member of Lodge 228 F&AM in Uniontown and was a 32-degree Mason with the Valley of Pittsburgh.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and boating.
His wife of 66 years, Lorain Leslie Martin, survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Matthews Alto (Sulo) of Scenery Hill and Lori Martin of Washington; two brothers, Ruben and Ronald Martin; five sisters, Lois Wolfe, Norma Wilde, Dawna Provance, Lorna Demeter and Lona Chambers; three grandchildren, Sherry Deberardinis, Ron Matthews and Shelby (Al) Carson; nine great-grandchildren, Kevin, Kelly, Louis, Annina, Olivia, Natalie, Alyssa, McKenzie and Ronnie; and two great-great-grandchildren, Ryan and Jay.
Deceased are four brothers, Marshall, Charles, Herbert and Dwayne, and three sisters, his twin, Roberta, Jean and Margaret.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Home Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, with the Rev. Rick Bruckner officiating. Burial will follow in Scenery Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
