Terrel “Gene” Richmond, 80, of Prosperity, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013, in his residence, following a three-week illness.
He was born May 24, 1933, in Cameron, West Virginia, a son of Fritz Richmond and Zerval Blake Richmond.
Mr. Richmond was a 1951 graduate of Claysville High School and studied meat cutting in Chicago.
He worked as a butcher and then in maintenance for Coen Oil Company for 32 years, and also operated Bells Lakes since 1973.
Mr. Richmond enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping with his children and grandchildren, and hunting.
He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Graysville and the Independent Club.
On April 29, 1955, he married Donna Lee Bell, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Michael Gene Richmond (Paula) of Washington and Larry Dean Richmond of Prosperity; a daughter, Kimberly Martin of Fremont, Ohio; his twin brother, Verrel Dean Richmond (Nancy) of Washington; five grandchildren, Michael, Megan, Jinnie, Gina and Alison; and seven great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Ronald Richmond; and two sisters, Lillian Widmer and Wanda Janovich.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 12th, with Rev. Dr. Harry Hill and Pastor Gary Whipkey officiating.
