Joseph C. Batove

Joseph C. Batove, 90, of Washington, died on Friday, August 16, 2013, in the Washington County Health Center. He was born on February 17, 1923, in Jerome, PA, a son of Joseph and Flora Rice Batove. Mr. Batove worked as an Ironworker, for Ironworkers Local 3, for 40 years. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served from September 18, 1943, until his honorable discharge on February 3, 1946. He was Presbyterian by faith. On September 3, 1943, he married Lois Cheesbrough, who died on October 8, 2009. Surviving are a son, Charles (Barbara) Batove, of Hickory; 2 daughters, Lois Jo (Alan) Wood, and Rebecca (Dennis Trimmer) Wotring; 4 grandchildren, Bill and Mark Wotring; Leslie (Gabriel) Markle, and Christopher Batove; and 3 great grandchildren, Cheyene, Monica and Brice Wotring. Deceased are a daughter, Twila Batove, a brother, James Batove and a granddaughter, Holli Batove. Friends will be received Monday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, August 20, 2013. Burial will follow in Independence Cemetery.
