John C. May, 74, of Greensboro, died Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in the Donnell House. He was born October 26, 1938 in Greensboro, the son of George R. May and Gertrude R. Ewart May. He served in the U.S. Army from February 29, 1956 till his honorable discharge on September 8, 1959 with a rank of specialist 4th class. He then served in the Army Reserves till 1964. John was a member of the Upper Ten Mile Presbyterian Church. He was a strong believer in the Lord and was surrounded by many strong Christian friends of the Upper Ten Mile Presbyterian Church, which helped see him through this trying time. His faith was so great with the Lord it gave him total peace with the closure of this life and to move to his eternal life. He was a Teamsters retiree of Southern Pacific and an owner/operator in the trucking industry for many years. John enjoyed his family and was a big fan of football, especially the Steelers. He also loved fishing and had a passion for cars. On April 18, 2009 he married Dorothea “Char” Charlene Medlen, who died March 13, 2012. He was a wonderful father and is survived by his three children John May, Kerry (Greg) Dickinson and Pamela May and his step children Donnie Toward and Cheryl Drake, along with five grandchildren; eleven great grand children, six step grandchildren; one step great grandchild; a brother, Bill May and sister, Estella Fisher. Deceased are a brother, George May and a great grandchild, Addison Draszt. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 31 at 3:00 p.m. in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, with Pastor Larry Deemer officiating. Donations can be made to the family care of the William G. Neal Funeral Homes. Ltd.
