Sarah Annabelle Sams

Sarah Annabelle Sams, 90, of Washington, died Monday, September 23, 2013, in Washington County Health Center. She was born April 11, 1923, in Cairo, West Virginia, a daughter of Harry and Willa Ross Cokeley. Mrs. Sams worked as a telephone operator and supervisor for Bell Telephone. She was a member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church. On October 26, 1946, she married Paul Sams, who died August 13, 1978. Surviving are a daughter, Carol (Royal) Miller of Wardensvile, West Virginia; two brothers, Calvin (Margaret) Cokeley and Holland (Alice) Cokeley, both of Washington; and one grandson, Geoffrey Miller. Deceased are a daughter, Paulette Legler; and a sister, Zoe Mae Tarr. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 28th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Inurnment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
