John Joseph Mcnansky

John Joseph McNansky, 89, of Washington, died on Thursday, October 3, 2013, in Humbert Lane, following a brief illness. He was born on May 7, 1924, in Adah, PA, a son of Mary Kotarsky. Mr. McNansky worked as an electrician for 35 years at RCA, where he also served as president of the I.B.E.W. Union. He then worked as the caretaker at Immaculate Conception Church for 18 years, and had also owned a television repair shop in Marianna. A self-taught guitarist, he was an avid gardener. Mr. McNansky was a member of the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from May 21, 1943, until his Honorable Discharge, on March 28, 1946. On November 28, 1944, he married Dorothy Jane Safko, who died on February 13, 2011 Surviving are a son, Jack (Mary Lou) McNansky of Lone Pine; a daughter, Barb (Bruce) Metz, of Crucible; 3 grandchildren, Heather (Bob) Lloyd, Tricia (Jason) Ball, and Stefanie McNansky; 4 great grandchildren, Rylie and Jocelyn Ball and Brayden and Ayceton Lloyd; numerous nieces and nephews, and his dog, Daisy. Deceased are several brothers and sisters. Friends will be received on Monday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 8, 2013, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Military Rites accorded graveside, by the Edwin Scott Linton, Post 175 of the American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 119 West Chestnut Street, Washington PA 15301.
