Dolan Floyd Braughler, 93, of Washington, died on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, in the Donnell House.
He was born on August 30, 1920, in Rochester Mills, a son of the late Floyd and Arminta Sutter Braughler.
A graduate of Marion Center High School, he had later taken many classes in salesmanship.
Mr. Braughler was a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church, where he had served as an Elder, and was on the Mission Committee, and the dartball team.
Mr Braughler was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from November 24, 1942, until his honorable discharge, on January 22, 1946. He participated in the Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe Campaigns, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. For his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, American Theater Service Medal, the Europe, Africa, Middle-Eastern Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Dolan worked for 30 years as the manager of the A&P Grocery Store. He then worked at the Dog n’ Suds Restaurant, in Titusville, PA for 10 years, and finally was owner and operator of the Braughler Dairy Queen, for 28 years.
Mr. Braughler enjoyed playing golf, and was a member of the Elks Lodge #776.
On February 11, 1950, he married Shirley VanDervort, who died on October 11, 1986.
Surviving, are 2 sons, Gary Braughler, of Franklin, and Dale Braughler, of Washington; a brother, Duane Braughler, of Shelocta, PA; a sister, Lorraine Sterner, of Duncannon; 5 grandchildren, Joshua, Luke, Colby, Jessica, and Christian; and 3 great grandchildren, Aden, Alaina and Lydia.
Deceased, is a brother, Laird Braughler; and 2 sisters, Bernadine Sensibaugh and Maralene Emerick.
Friends will be received on Friday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, October 19. 2013, from 11 to 1 p.m., the time of services, in the Fourth Presbyterian Church, 1000 Jefferson Ave., Washington, with Rev. Robert Miller officiating.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens. Military Rites will be accorded graveside, by the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
