David Fonner Engle, Sr., 71, of Washington, died Friday, October 18, 2013, in Donnell House, following a lengthy illness.
He was born December 10, 1941, in Washington, a son of Carl and Margaret Fonner Engle.
Mr. Engle was a coal miner for Consol - Bethlehem Mine for 12 ½ years, was the owner/operator of Dave’s Auto Repair for 20 years, and was a service technician at Brody Butcher Supply for 10 years.
On January 6, 1961, he married Gladys M. Laird, who died September 5, 2012.
Surviving are a son, David F. (Kerry) Engle, Jr., of Stowe, Ohio; two daughters, Paula (Butchie) Hartzog and Dana Marie (Tom) Miller, both of Washington; three sisters, Mary “Maggie” Mowl, Pearl Amos and Karen Sulc, all of Washington; six grandchildren, Eric (Melanie) Hartzog, Trevor Hartzog, Travis Hartzog, Thomas (Chantel) Miller, Jr., Zack D. Engle and Karly Jo Engle; and a great-grandchild, Gavin Miller.
Deceased are a grandson, Andrew David Miller; a brother, Carl Engle; and a sister, Laura Cox.
There will be no public visitation. Services will be held at a later date.
