David Edward Bennington

David Edward Bennington, 73, of Washington, died on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, in Consulate Health Care. He was born on March 31, 1940, in Washington, a son of the late Edward and Dorothy Puskarich Bennington. A 1959 graduate of Trinity High School, he was a member of First Lutheran Church. David retired from Washington Steel in 1999. Mr. Bennington was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1960 to1962. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and raising beagles. His first wife, Shirley Carpenter Jeffers, died on April 8, 1996. On July 12, 1997, he married Mildred Kapis, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Sheryl Bennington (John) Grable, of Pittsburgh; a stepson, Frank (Jackie) Jeffers, Jr., of Washington; 2 step daughters, Rhonda Grover Reed, of Clarksburg, WV, and Vickie Lynn Grover, of Washington; a sister, Jean Bennington Reed, of Washington; 6 step-grandchildren, Jacob, Ann and Derek Jeffers, and Scott, Sarah Grace and Seth Reed; 4 step-great grandchildren, Ellie, Lily, Riley and Kaylee Jeffers; 2 nieces, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends will be received on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, from 9 to 11 a.m., the time of services, with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Schott officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. No flowers will be accepted by the family at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 60 E. Maiden St., Washington, PA 15301, or Washington City Mission, 84 W. Wheeling St., Washington, PA 15301.
