Helen Magyar Poch, 91, of McMurray, formerly of West Homestead, died Sunday, December 8, 2013, in McMurray Hills Manor.
She was born December 11, 1921, in Rankin, a daughter of Michael Magyar and Zuzanna Podlesny Magyar.
Mrs. Poch was a graduate of Rankin High School. A homemaker, she had once worked at Westinghouse wrapping coils.
She was an avid knitter, making chemo caps for donation to cancer patients as well as donating caps for troops to wear under their helmets through the "Ship's Project," supporting America's troops one stitch at a time.
Mrs. Poch was a member of First Hungarian Reformed Church of Homestead and AARP-Thompson Run Chapter 3172.
On June 13, 1943, she married Joseph Andrew “Toby” Poch, who died November 11, 2000.
Surviving is a daughter, Audrey Poch, of McMurray.
Deceased are two brothers, John and William Magyar.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 12th, in the Mausoleum at Lebanon Church Cemetery, West Mifflin, with Rev. Alexander Jalso and Rev. Imre Bertalan officiating.
