Donald Lee Morris, 82 of Washington, died Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Washington Hospital.
He was born March 8, 1931 in Washington, the son of Wayne E. Morris and Ethel Ammons Morris who are deceased.
Don served as a Sergeant in the U. S. Army from 1950 to 1952, in addition he served in the National Guard.
He was employed as a warehouse supervisor for 46 years at Columbia Gas.
Don loved to cook, play cards and go out to dinner with friends and family.
He was a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church, Life member of the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175, where served as the Post Commander, twice. He was also a member of the Arms Club.
On February 4, 1946 he married Bessie R. Crowe who died April 22, 2003.
On January 20, 2007 he married Ruth Moninger Shaw who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Susan (Jay) Zimmerman of Elizabeth; a brother, Ralph (Mary) Morris of Winterhaven, FL; four grandchildren, Michelle Morris, Wayne Morris, Christina Morris and Adam Hall.
Deceased are a son, Gary L. Morris, a brother, Wayne Morris, a sister, Eileen Standard.
Friends will be received Monday, January 20, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2014, with Pastor Jeff Diedrich officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery.
Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175.
