Edward Charles Mellars, Jr.

Edward Charles Mellars, Jr., 61, of Washington, died Friday, January 24, 2014, in Donnell House. He was born May 16, 1952, in Washington, a son of the late Edward C. Mellars, Sr., and Helen Marie Hutter Mellars. A graduate of Washington High School, he was an avid sportsman during his younger years. Mr. Mellars worked in home remodeling and roofing. He enjoyed artwork, painting, yard work and crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed playing league pool and adult league softball. Mr. Mellars was Catholic by faith. Surviving are a son, Shane Mellars; two daughters, Jessica Mellars and Shannon Mellars, all of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his companion of many years, Barbara Dombrowski; a brother, John Mellars of Washington; a sister, Sharon Mellars of Washington; an aunt, Janie Mellars; several cousins, including Jamie Ward; and several nieces and nephews, including Stacie (Terry) Tennant, Shellie Mellars, Lindsey Mellars and Cody Mellars. Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a sister, Darla Mellars. A memorial visitation will be held Friday, January 31st, from 5 to 6 p.m., the time of a memorial service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd. 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Memorial donations may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
