James H. “Ozzie” Osborn, 72 of Washington and Lake Worth, FL, died January 27, 2014 in Washington Hospital. He was born May 8, 1941 in Washington, the son of the late Robert F. and Edith P. Osborn. Mr. Osborn was a 1959 graduate of Washington High School and 1964 graduate of Waynesburg College. He was employed as a caseworker by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare at the Washington County Board of Assistance, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Avery United Methodist Church. Mr. Osborn was an active sports enthusiast. He was a well respected PIAA Basketball Official, having worked over 40 years in the sport and served as president and rules interpreter of the Washington County Basketball Official Association. He was very active in local baseball, coaching WYB from 1959-1989. He managed the Presco Team in Pony League and won city championships in 1987, 1988 and 1989. He also coached baseball at Trinity High School from 1991 to 2006. Mr. Osborn was an avid golfer playing in the Washington area in the summer and Lake Worth, FL in the winter. He coached Trinity High School Golf Team from 1998 to 2012. He was a member of the 630th Transportation Company USAR and served in Vietnam from September 1968 to August 1969. He was stationed at Phu-Bai RVN XXIV Corp. On July 24, 1985 he married Sherry L. Fullerton who survives. Also surviving are a son, Stephen D. Osborn of Tampa, FL; a brother, Robert W. (Sue) Osborn of Chillecothe, OH; a niece, Dr. Jennifer Osborn and husband Dr. Mark Provenzano of Wexford; a nephew, Michael (Katy) Osborn of Springfield, OH; great nieces, Alexis Porvenzao and Caroline Osborn; great nephews, Nicholas, Andrew and Anthony Provenzano and Grant Osborn. He leaves behind his beloved cat, Snowball. Friends will be received Thursday, January 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, January 31 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd. 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Ruth Simmons officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery.
