Grace I. Kern, 94 of Washington, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Washington County Health Center.
She was born March 18, 1919 in McKeesport the daughter of John E. Pinkerton and Margaret Gallagher Pinkerton.
Grace was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Prosperity. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, watching the Price is Right on television, shopping and spending time with family.
On October 5, 1933 she married Joseph Kern Sr. who died June 10, 1992. They were married for 59 years prior to his death.
Surviving are a son, Joseph (Phyllis) Kern Jr. of Washington; two daughters, Joan (Andy) Anderson of Washington and Lois Kern, with whom she resided, of Washington; 8 grandchildren, Cynthia Rydzak, Joseph (Deb) Rydzak, Joseph (Tammy) Kern, K.C. (Michelle) Walters, Terry (Dennis) Dydiw, Stacy (David) Witte, Kristi (Barry) Bartusiak, Leslie (Bob) Croyle; 17 great grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, Denver, Carl, John and Frank; two sisters, Margaret Saunders and Mildred Pinkerton.
Friends will be received Thursday, February 20th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Friday, February 21, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery.
