William James White, 91, of Washington, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014, in Donnell House.
He was born June 3, 1922, in Carothers, a son of Philip White and Leona Risher White.
A World War II veteran, Mr. White served in the Navy from October 5, 1942, until his honorable discharge on March 17, 1946, as a Storekeeper, third class.
He worked at Jessop Steel for 26 years and was a member of Washington Alliance Church, where he had been a church officer and Sunday School Superintendent.
Mr. White was an avid woodworker and collector of arrowheads. He had a great sense of humor and loved his family dearly.
On August 27, 1946, he married Eva Lawrence, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, James L. (Dr. Carol) White of Fredericktown; three daughters, Nancy White (David) Carlstrom of Seattle, Washington, Linda White Stormes of Brooklyn, New York, and Carol White (Jeffrey) Brown of Honeoye Falls, New York; eight grandchildren, Jesse and Joshua Carlstrom, Rebecca (Ralph) Pietrofesa, Nathan White, Gregory Stormes, and Allyson, Madelyn and Wyatt Brown.
Deceased are two brothers, Robert and Norman White, and two sisters, Phyllis Redinger and Betty Batterton.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 22nd, with Rev. James Newman officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
