Katherine Funka, 92, of Washington, died on Wednesday, February 26, 2014.
She was born on February 28, 1921, in Meadowlands, a daughter of the late Joseph and Susan Bygala Orlosky.
A member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, she had worked as a selector at Brockway Glass, Plant #7.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
On January 24, 1942, she married George Edmund Funka, Sr., who died on September 24, 2006.
Surviving are a son, James L. (Serena) Funka of Southport, North Carolina; a daughter, Deborah K. Halsey of Dale City, Virginia; a sister, Helen Chmiel, of Washington; six grandchildren, Kristi (Rick) Loop, Kelli (Al) Moraz, George, Kenny and Daniel Halsey, and Lori Mead; and five great-grandchildren, Megan Mead, Dustin Mead, and Olivia Loop, Katie and Tommy Moraz.
Deceased are a son, George Edmund Funka, Jr.,; a brother, Nickolas Orlosky; 2 sisters, Susan Orlosky and Ann Getto; son in law Keith Halsey
Friends will be received on Friday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 8th, in St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, 166 East College Street, Canonsburg, with Father Joseph Jugan as celebrant. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
