Raymond Jacob Irey, Sr., 88, of Amwell Township, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born July 12, 1925, in Washington, a son of William and Jeannie Mulhman Irey.
Mr. Irey worked at Polycom, Tri-State Engineering and Jefferson Coal and Coke. In addition, he was a self-employed tree trimmer.
Mr. Irey attended Friendship Community Church and was a member of the Moose Lodge and a Steelworkers Union.
He was a great dad to his children.
On September 29, 1952, he married Florence Marie Matteson, who died January 8, 2011.
Surviving are four sons, Robert (Joyce) Matteson, Raymond (Wendy) Irey, James Irey and Donald Irey; two daughters, Anna (the late Frank) Przystup and Kathy (Dewey) Hall, all of Washington; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Deceased are his siblings, Clem Irey, Anna Irey, Emma Wildman, Genevieve Irey, Ethel Anderson, Estella Dille, Margaret Frazee, Gloria Jean Byrne, Fred Irey and James Irey.
Friends will be received Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 1 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 8th, in Friendship Community Church, with Rev. Rick Bruckner officiating. Burial will follow in Woodruff Memorial Park, Canonsburg.
