Jean I. Allen

January 21, 1925 — March 13, 2014

Jean White Baumgartner Allen, 89 of Washington, died Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Presbyterian Senior Care.   She was born January 21, 1925 in Rea, the daughter of Bemis White and Margaret Vankirk White. When she was a week old her mother died and Jean and her sister were raised by her late grandmother Clara Vankirk.   Jean was in the Trinity High School Class of 1944. She worked at Kress Box and Len’s Restaurant. She was a member of Taylorstown Christian Church and an active member of the Duncan and Miller Glass Club, Fostoria Glass Society and Three Rivers Depression Glass Club. She was also a NASCAR Fan.   She married John Baumgartner who is deceased.   In 1972 she married A. Leroy Allen who died in February of 1995.   Surviving are two sons, John J. (Nancy) Baumgartner of Wellsburg, WV, David K. (fiancé, Jackie Bishop) Baumgartner of Washington; two daughters, Margaret Ann (Harold) Carty of Cape May, NJ, Janet L. (Rich) Shriver of Avella; three stepchildren, Leroy (Susan) Allen Jr. of Washington, Randy (Becky) Allen of Washington, Susan (Art) Richardson of Prosperity; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren.   Deceased are a granddaughter, Carrie Shriver, grandson, Charles Miles and a great granddaughter, Isabella Richardson and a sister, Helen Donel.   Friends will be received Monday, March 17, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Home Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Robert Vankirk (cousin).   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Mrs. Claus Club, c/o of Janet Shriver, 117 Walker Hill Rd, Avella, PA 15312
