Clarence Smith, Jr., 82, of McMurray, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in his residence. He had been in declining health for the past 10 years.
He was born January 6, 1932, in Washington, a son of Clarence M. Smith, Sr. and Margaret A. McCartney Smith.
Mr. Smith worked at the US Steel Edgar Thompson Plant in Braddock for 44 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, traveling and spending time with family.
Mr. Smith was a veteran of the Army, serving in the Army from November 20, 1952, until his honorable discharge October 26, 1954, as a corporal. He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal.
On September 3, 1950, he married Janet Organ, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Mark O. Smith; two daughters, Deborah S. (William) Hamilton and Barbara J. Pauley; two brothers, David E. (Gen) Smith and Gary L. Smith; two sisters, Florence Platt and Rebecca Littell; six grandchildren, Bradley, Chad, Brian, and Lucas Hamilton, Kelly Hunter and Tara Smith; and nine great grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters, Jean Gardner and Nancy McFall.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 24th with Captain Michael Jung officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
