Emma Josephine Orban of Washington passed away peacefully at her home on her 93rd Birthday, March 22, 2014.
She was born March 22, 1921, in Centerville, PA, a daughter of the late Michael Stanley and Nellie Yuravich Muscavitch.
Emma attended Greene County schools and graduated from Noble Thompson Institute, Pittsburgh, PA where she studied Business and Bookkeeping.
During World War II she relocated to Ohio to work in production of B-29 Bomber at the Fisher Cleveland Aircraft plant. After the war, Emma moved to North Side of Pittsburgh and made toys in the Wolverine Supply & Manufacturing Co., Western Avenue factory.
Emma is predeceased by her husband, William Orban Jr., who died on December 29, 1999. They married on June 23, 1951, at Saint Mary and Ann Catholic Church in Marianna, PA, after which they moved to Washington and opened Orbans Bake Shop.
Emma enjoyed singing, reciting poems, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, and growing her own tomatoes. Watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy was one of her favorite daily activities.
Emma was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Washington, where was a former member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers.
Emma is survived by her six children: Rosemary (Chuck) Furman of Scottdale, Karen (Doug) Meighen, William Orban and Sandra Orban of Washington, Elana Orban of Cocoa, FL, and Michael Orban of Merritt Island, FL; six grandchildren; Eric M. McManus, Charles, Joel, and Mark Furman, William C. Orban, and Lauren Furman Clark; six great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; a brother, Edward Muscavitch of Sandy Plains, and sister Elsie Mayhut of Valrico, FL.
Deceased are three brothers, Pete Muscovich, Michael and Lee Muscavitch, five sisters, Nellie Mayhut, Helen Mucko, Ann Muscavitch, Frances Giles, and Leona Muscavitch, and an infant great grandson, William Robert Furman.
Friends will be received on Wednesday March 26 from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m on Thursday March 27th at Immaculate Conception Church, with Father Pat Barkey as celebrant, followed by the burial in Greene County Memorial Park in Waynesburg.
