Martha Ann McClelland, 81, of Washington, died Monday, March 24, 2014, in the Washington Hospital.
She was born December 22, 1932, in Negley, Ohio, a daughter of Samuel M. and Esther Dickey Gorby.
Mrs. McClelland was a graduate of Kent State University and was a teacher in the McGuffey School District for 30 years. An avid reader, she was a member of a book club and enjoyed gardening and traveling. In addition, she enjoyed playing cards and Scrabble with friends and family.Mrs. McClelland was a very active member of Liberty United Methodist Church.
On June 20, 1954, she married John Pate McClelland, who died June 19, 2009.
Surviving are two sons, Craig (Nancy) McClelland of Easton and Mark (Jean) McClelland of The Woodlands, Texas; a daughter, Dale McClelland of Alexandria, Virginia; a brother, Lewis (Bobbie) Gorby of Geneva, Ohio; two sisters, Maxine (Michael) Smith of Sterling, Ohio and Iona (Glenn) St. John of East Palestine, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Shona McClelland (Brian) Tweed, Brian McClelland (fiancée Amanda Walen), Ashley McClelland (Birkir) Jonsson and Amanda McClelland (fiancé Ron Fischer).Deceased is a sister, Shirley Green.Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 29th, in Liberty United Methodist Church, with Rev. Lois Swestyn officiating. Private burial will be held in Maple Hill Cemetery in Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Liberty United Methodist Church, 1330 Banetown Road, Washington, PA 15301.Those attending the funeral service should go directly to the church on Saturday morning.
