Mary Pierson Sargent, 94, of Washington, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, in Evergreen Personal Care.
She was born January 21, 1920, in Washington, a daughter of Tony Cossu and Louise Caterina Cossu.
Mrs. Sargent worked in the decorating department at Brockway Glass for 29 years.
She enjoyed being with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Sargent was a member of Central Assembly of God.
On June 5, 1943, she married Alpha “Babe” Pierson, who died July 18, 1985.
In 1991, she married Newton Sargent, who died August 23, 2011.
Surviving are a son, Paul W. (Kim) Pierson of Washington; a brother, John “Sam” Cossu of Cleveland, Ohio; two grandchildren, Joshua (Kim) Pierson and Christopher Pierson; and two great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Kaitlynn Pierson; niece, Carol (Casey) Harris; nephews, David (Tina) Cossu and Mark (Maria) Cossu; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and a sister-in-law, Joann Cossu.
Deceased are two brothers, Peter and Frank Cossu.
Friends will be received from 10 till 11 a.m., the time of service, on Friday, March 28th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Private burial will be held in Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
