Hester Mae Mccartney

Hester Mae McCartney, 93, of Washington, died on Thursday, March 27, 2014, in the Donnell House, following a 6-year illness. She was born on December 30, 1920, in Paris, PA, a daughter of Charles R. and Rose McCartney Calvert.  She attended Washington High School and was Methodist by faith.   Mrs. McCartney was a homemaker, who enjoyed watching soaps and spending time with her grandchildren.  On June 30, 1938, she married Donald McCartney, who died on February 7, 1977.  Surviving are a son, Kenneth McCartney, of Washington; a daughter, Donna (Gary) Piecknick, of Washington; 2 step-sisters, Janet Kamppi, of New Cumberland, WV, and Charlotte Kamppi, of Weirton, WV; nine grandchildren, Randy, Jody, Jamie, Amy, Debbie, Christy, Mary Ann, Mark and Lori; and 11 great-grandchildren.  Deceased are a son, Thomas McCartney; 3 brothers, Charles, Kenneth and Joe Calvert; and 2 sisters, Lucille Morris and Bessie Hughes. Friends will be received on Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where services will be held at 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, March 29, 2014.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
