Fay Eileen “Mommy” Caldwell, 83, of Washington, died Friday, April 4, 2014, in Donnell House.
She was born October 25, 1930, in Elm Grove, West Virginia, a daughter of Ervie Richmond and Mildred Gail Elliott Richmond.
A 1949 graduate of Washington High School, Mrs. Caldwell worked at the Victory Diner until it closed in 1974. She then worked at the Tower Restaurant as a cook until her retirement in 2007.
Mrs. Caldwell was a member of Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church and a former member of the Auxiliary of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 and the Lady Hogue Rebecca Lodge.
She enjoyed league bowling, attending the Senior Center, playing dart ball and playing cards.
Mrs. Caldwell was a woman whose love extended beyond her family and whose heart was ever giving.
On May 15, 1949, she married George A. Caldwell, who died January 2, 1989.
Surviving are two sons, George L. Caldwell and Dale Caldwell, both of Washington; three daughters, Dolores Ann Waggett (Ronald), Gail Caldwell and Linda Levers, all of Washington; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters, Ruth Junge and Beatrice Irey; and a brother who died in infancy.
Friends will be received Monday from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday April 8th. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
