John Albert Mcgary

John Albert McGary, 62, of Washington, died suddenly, April 10, 2014, in his residence.                  He was born May 24, 1951, in Washington, a son of the late William McGary and Mabel McVay McGary. Mr. McGary was a Vietnam veteran of the Army, serving from January 21, 1971, until his honorable discharge on January 19, 1973, with a rank of Specialist, 4th class. For his service, he was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Overseas Bar, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, and Sharpshooters Badge – Rifle M-16. Mr. McGary worked for 14 years in the hot end at Brockway Glass and retired from Joy Mining, where he worked as a truck driver. He was a member of VFW Post 927, WWCC Car Club, and Teamsters Local 585. A loving father and grandfather, he loved helping people, enjoyed classic cars, and was an avid Steelers fan. On July 29, 1999, he married Margaret “Susie” Scears, who survived. Also surviving are a son, John William McGary of Mt. Lebanon; a stepson, Sr. Master Sergeant Richard J. DeMarco of Bowie, Maryland; two stepdaughters, Billy Jo Tabatabai (Mohammad) of Washington and Bobbie Jo McMillin (Rob) of Canonsburg; two brothers, Earl McGary (Pam) and Robert McGary, both of Washington; grandchildren, Cassidy and Conner McMillin, Abigail and Audrey Powell, Hannah and Leila Tabatabai, Rachael and Chloe DeMarco; and two nieces, Amanda McGary and Brittany McGary. Deceased is a brother, William Leroy McGary. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m., the time of service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Private burial will be held in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, at a later date.
