Arthur William Hampson, 84, of Washington, died Monday, April 14, 2014, in his residence.
He was born November 29, 1929, in Meadowlands, a son of the late Arthur Hampson and Ruth Van Fossen Hampson.
Mr. Hampson was a veteran of the Navy, serving from October 11, 1950 until his honorable discharge on August 13, 1954, with a rank of Storekeeper. He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United National Service Medal, China Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Hampson worked at McGraw Edison for 47 years, and after retirement, worked as the manager of Tower Golf.
He was a member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 and the Pulaski Club and was an avid golfer.
In 1980, in Meadowlands United Methodist Church, he married Nancy Cole, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Jimmy Brown of West Virginia and Jay Brown, of Washington; four daughters, Ruthie France and Sandra Zajack (Ben), both of Belle Vernon, Stephanie Brown Auld of Washington and Billie Jo Doman (Rich) of Meadowlands; two sisters, Lillian Martin of Canonsburg and Kate Johnson of Washington; seven grandchildren, Jessica Auld, Mikol and Shane Dadidsman, Brooke Lagoni (Rocky), Elaina and Shelby Doman, and Brandon Brown; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 9 till 11 a.m., the time of service, on Wednesday, April 16th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Rev. Scott Bunting officiating. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
