Alene L. Laws

Alene L. Laws, 94, of Washington, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at home with her family by her side. She was born July 13, 1919, in Washington, a daughter of Clare and Ida Smith Buchanan. Mrs. Laws owned and operated her own beauty shop for over 50 years. On January 31, 1947, she married Donald Laws, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Donald A. Laws (Patricia) of Clarksville; a daughter, Carolyn Kelley of Washington, who was also her caregiver; grandchildren, Ronald (Melinda) Kelley of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Donna Long of Washington, Janis Kelley of Washington, George (Karen) Kelley of Denver, Colorado, Rebekah McDougal of Canonsburg, Kelly Cross of Washington, Robin (Anthony) Campieri of Charleroi; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Deceased are a son, Bud H. Laws, and his wife, Carolyn. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. Burial will be private at a later date.
