James Wilbert Fordyce, 77, of Washington, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, in the Washington Hospital.
He was born December 20, 1936, in Washington, a son of Wilbert Stewart Fordyce and Goldie Martin Fordyce. After his father died, he was raised by his mother and Curtis Fordyce.
Mr. Fordyce was a veteran of the Army, serving from January 25, 1954, until his honorable discharge on January 29, 1957, with a rank of Specialist, Third Class.
He worked his entire career for Columbia Gas, retiring as a supervisor.
Mr. Fordyce was a life-long Steelers fan.
On June 19, 1959, he married Vera Parisse, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Richard Brown of Washington, James W. Fordyce II (Mary) of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Jeff Fordyce (Kathryn) of Prosperity; a sister, Ruth Reynolds of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren, Kelli, Erica, Ryan, Tessa and Connor; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services and burial in Forest Lawn Gardens will be private.
