George Henry Mcgary, Sr.

George Henry McGary, Sr., 86, of Washington, died April 23, 2014, in Donnell House. He was born June 4, 1927, in Washington, a son of George E. and Caroline Behner McGary. Mr. McGary was employed as a pattern maker at Hill Wallish. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he was a hardhat diver aboard the USS Oregon. On September 4, 1947, he married Marian Louise Jeffers, who survives. Also surviving are a son, George McGary, Jr. (Judy) of Washington; two daughters, Mindy Spino (Joe) of Washington and Sharon Hazen (Jim) of Claysville; two sisters, Betty Bryner and Joanne Mrenak; six grandchildren, George McGary (Jennifer), Melissa Depardo (Joe), Hilary Knestrick (John), Bethany Cole, Jessica Spino and Morgan Spino (Dave); nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Deceased are a granddaughter, Marsha Lynn; brothers, Donald and Robert; and sisters, Ann, Virginia, Mary and Florence. A memorial visitation will be held at Lone Pine Christian Church, 582 Lone Pine Road, Washington, from 10 till 11 a.m. on Friday, May 2nd, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., with Pastor John Owen officiating.     Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
