Morse Young, 88, of Washington, died on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, in the Donnell House.
He was born on July 9, 1925, in Lowmansville, KY, a son of the late Frank and Evelina Wiley Young.
Mr. Young attended Park Avenue Baptist Church.
He worked previously at Nolte Brass, in Springfield, OH, then worked as a superintendant, at Washington Mould, until his retirement. Following his retirement, he started his own remodeling company.
He loved spending time with his family.
Mr. Young was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, until his honorable discharge, with a rank of Corporal, on February 17, 1946. He was wounded in action, and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. Corporal Young was also awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
On May 29, 1947, he married Clara Louise Fraley, who survives.
Also surviving are 4 sons, James (Deborah) Young, of Mechanicsburg, OH, Robert L. Young, of North Carolina, Robert L. (Amy) Young, of Washington, and Larry Young, of Washington; 3 daughters, Barbara (Richard) King, of Springfield, OH, Wanda Young and Nichole (Scott) Swemley, both of Washington; a sister, Sally “Sadie” Robson, of Huntington, WV; 5 grandchildren, Sean King, Shannon King, Robert Young, Randall Young, and Joshua Young; 8 great grandchildren, and mother of Robert and Randall Young, Rhea Young
Deceased are 3 brothers, William, Hood, and Lis Young; and 4 sisters, Bea Kelly, Olive Church, Mary Crabtree, and Inez.
Friends will be received on Friday, May 2, 2014, from 3 to 6 p.m., the time of services, in Park Avenue Baptist Church, 3750 Park Ave., Washington, with Pastor Larry Leonard officiating.
Military Rites will be accorded at the church, by Hunt Kennedy Post 639 of the American Legion, Claysville.
Burial will follow at a later date, in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
