Charles Rubin “Bud” Corbin, 86, of Washington, died unexpectedly, Sunday, June 8, 2014.
He was born October 19, 1927, in Martin’s Ferry, Ohio, a son of Russell Corbin and Ruth Kies Corbin.
Mr. Corbin worked as a glazer throughout his life, most recently for American Glass and Mirror Co.
He was an active member of Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee and head usher and was a very active member of the dart ball team. In addition, he was a member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175, the Eagles and I.O.O.F., where he served as treasurer.
Mr. Corbin volunteered at Washington Hospital, the Washington City Mission, Food Bank and Christian Outreach.
He was a veteran of the Army, serving from February 3, 1946, until his honorable discharge on August 2, 1947, with a rank of Corporal. Mr. Corbin served as a parachutist with the 82nd Airborne Division and earned a World War II Victory Medal.
On March 24, 1951, he married Betty Kirk, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Danny Corbin of Washington; a daughter, Sue Hogan (Bill) of Level Green; and three grandchildren, Billy, Christopher and Christie.
Deceased is a daughter, Cheryl Corbin.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 12th. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Hunt-Kennedy Post 639.
The family requests casual dress, preferably nothing in black.
