Joseph C. Davis, 65, of Claysville, died Saturday, June 14, 2014, in his home. He was born February 3, 1949, in Claysville, a son of the late LeRoy Davis and Beulah M. Toland Davis. Mr. Davis attended McGuffey High School. He worked for Andy Brothers and J and F Tire for 30 years and was co-owner of Joe and Henry's Tires for six years. He was a member of Washington County Horseshoe Club at the fairgrounds in Arden. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed flea markets, yard sales and playing cards.Mr. Davis attended Roadside Chapel in Pleasant Grove. On July 6, 1973, he married Catherine Manning, who survives.Also surviving are two sons, Thomas Lee Davis (Lucretia) of Prosperity and Joseph Davis Jr. (Erin) of Dallas, W.Va.; two daughters, Tammie Renee Davis and Janet Mae Knox (Jason), both of Washington; five brothers, Ferris Davis of Claysville, John Henry Davis of Washington and James Davis (Linda), Melvin Clyde Davis (Shirley) and Archie Davis (Ruth), all of Claysville; two sisters, Elsie Schumacher (William) of Washington and Shirley Ann Stenger (William) of Valley Grove, W.Va.; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Lois Davis of Washington. Deceased are a son, Randal LeRoy Davis; two brothers, Randal Davis and Clarence Davis; a sister, Sarah Lilley; and a sister-in-law, Sarah Davis. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, with Shirley Davis officiating.
