Betty Jean Hellmann, 79, of Washington, died on Monday, June 16, 2014, in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care.
She was born on July 3, 1934, in Allegheny County, a daughter of the late Sadie Ross.
Mrs. Hellmann had attended Washington High School, and was a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid Society.
She had worked at Mr. Donut on Murtland Ave., where she had been a baker for more than 10 years.
She was a member of the 500 Card Club, the Tuesday morning Ladies League at Route 19 Bowling Alley, and the Washington Senior Citizens Center.
Mrs. Hellmann delivered Meals on Wheels, three times a week for years, and also helped to serve meals at the Senior Center.
She enjoyed baking and vegetable gardening and canning.
On May 27, 1955, she married Lew Ronald Hellmann, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Bobbi R. (Ron) Horn, of Washington; Gerry (Ed) Wyland, of Washington, and Lou Ann Prosser, of Meadowlands; two sisters, Goldie (Phil) Ewing, of Washington, and Norma (Jack) Stanley, of Masontown; 5 grandchildren, Jamie Prosser, Jason Horn, Brenan Horn, Cody Wyland, and Mark Wyland; and three great grandchildren, Julianna, Hailey and Caroline.
Deceased are two brothers, Ronald McMasters, who died as an infant, and James McMasters, and two sisters, Clara Ross and Pearl McMasters, and her stepfather, James McMasters.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where a service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, June 19, 2014, with Pastor Alyce Curry officiating.
Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
