Francis Patrick “Pat” O’Brien, III, 60, of Washington, died on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, in his home, following a 6-month battle with cancer.
He was born on October 17, 1953, in Washington, a son of Francis Patrick O’Brien, Jr., and the late Shirley Alexander O’Brien.
A 1971 graduate of Trinity High School, he was a member of the First Christian Church.
Mr. O’Brien had worked at Allegheny Ludlum, as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic for 22 years. He had also worked at Brockway Glass, Suburban Bus Lines, Washington Steel and Hapchuk, Inc.
He had been a volunteer firefighter for the Taylorstown Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years.
Pat's greatest times were spent with his wife and his family. He loved his children and grandchildren, helping others, and he enjoyed restoring cars
On June 26, 2004, he married Diana Jo Shook, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Levi (Kristi) Curtis, of Oceanside, CA; three daughters, Christy (William) Gray, of Washington, Jen (Ken) Marsh, of Washington, and Sadie (Craig) Orr, of Eighty-Four, a brother, Dennis (Mary) O’Brien, of Washington; two sisters, Patricia (Marshall) Gwilliam, and Diane O’Brien, both of Washington; nine grandchildren, Anastasia Smith, Bria Hopson, Jenna Gray, Rian Gray, Cole Fisher, Kael Fisher, Emma Marsh, Jaxon Orr and Molly Orr, a godson, Scott Stollar, and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a grandchild, Lane Fisher.
Friends will be received on Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m., and Friday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 21, 2014, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating.
Burial will follow in Claysville Cemetery.
There will be a firefighter’s service at the funeral home, at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 19, 2014.
Memorial contributions may be made to the volunteer fire department of donor’s choice.
