Margaret M. Haught

Margaret M. Haught, 90 of Washington found peace on, July 2, 2014 in Humbert Lane Personal Care Home, where she had resided for nearly seven years. She was born April 5, 1924 in Glendale, CA to the late Searles M. Sullivan and Margaret Kamphausen Sullivan. As a young girl her family moved to San Diego where she graduated from Herbert Hoover High School. During World War II she was employed by Consolidated Aircraft Corp., Manufacturer of B-24 Liberator Bombers. She moved east after the war to Jacksonsville, NC where she worked as an on air radio personality on station WJNC and earned a student pilots license in a Piper Cub airplane. While there she met and married Corporal Robert J. Haught, USMC, a war veteran on October 14, 1946. They returned to San Diego for several years before returning permanently to Washington in the early 1950’s to raise their children and live out the rest of their lives. Her husband passed away on May 29, 1977. She was the last of her family. Margaret was an excellent seamstress and made most of her own clothes. She was employed at several sewing and fabric related businesses. She was an avid NASCAR fan and followed Dale Earnhart and his son Junior. She attended Fourth Presbyterian Church in Tylerdale as long as her health permitted. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Larry) Rizor of Friendsville, MD and her son Robert Haught of Port Orange, FL. There are five grandchildren, Ranette Rizor Ostrowski, Rhonda Rizor Hamilton, Ryan Rizor, Rob Haught and Adrienne Haught. Her great grandchildren are Ben, Evan and Owen Ostrowski, Hunter and Hayden Hamilton, Chase and Charlie Grace Rizor and Kendle Haught; her faithful friend JoAnn Lloyd. At the request of the deceased there will be no public visitation. Arrangements are being handled by William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington.
