William Clair Patterson, 84 of Washington, died Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Humbert Lane.
He was born February 26, 1930 in Washington, the son of Earl B. Patterson and Katherine A. Conrad Patterson.
William attended the 6th Ward School and graduated from Washington High School in 1949.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the 28th Division and the 5th Army for 6 years.
He was the Director of Safety for G.G. & C. Bus Company for 18 years, truck driver for Star Dynamics for 15 years and worked at PA Transformer for 7 years.
William was a member of the Abundant Life Baptist Church and the American Legion Post #175 for 25 years. He was a high school and college Football Referee.
He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He will be missed by his best friend, his dog, Tucker.
On March 11, 1951 he married Dorothy Josephine Tucker in Indianapolis, IN who survives. They were married for 65 years.
Also surviving are three daughters, Carol Ann (Keith) Dipazza of Monessen, Donna Lee Phillips of Washington, Patti Sue (Gregg) Wolf of Waynesburg; six grandchildren, Sheridan Byron McWreath II, Cody Phillips, Joshua Phillips, Emily Coyne, Abbey Wolf and Sarah Wolf; four great grandchildren, Sydney Jo McWreath, Lilly Phillips, William Phillips, Emma Phillips.
At the request of the family all arrangements are private and are being handled by William G. Neal Funeral, 925 Allison Ave, Washington.
Burial will be held at a later date at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
