John Lawrence Golaski, 94 of Washington passed away, Monday, July 28, 2014 at the Washington Hospital.
He was born May 20, 1920, in Meadowlands, the son of the late Nick and Josephine Muszynski Golaski.
Mr. Golaski graduated from Washington High School in January, 1939.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 and was discharged as a Tech Sergeant. He also served in the Army Reserves.
He worked at both Hazel Atlas Plants, the Transformer and was a streetcar operator. He was employed by Metro, Kraft and Ball Glass until his retirement in 1984.
Mr. Golaski was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church.
He was a member of the Pulaski Club, where he served as president, vice president and director. He was very proud to be a winner of the club’s pinochle tournament two out of the past three years. He was also a member of the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175.
On February 7, 1948, he married Ann Balog, who died November 8, 1997.
He is survived by his children, Barbara Ann Golaski of Baltimore, MD, Nicholas (Denise) Golaski of Orefield, PA and Michael (Wendy Cameron) Golaski of Washington; five grandchildren, Matthew, Steven, Jordan, Samantha and Michael; several nieces and nephews and their families.
Deceased in addition to his wife and parents are sisters, Theresa Szolek and Mary Garrett and a brother, Joseph Golaski.
Mr. Golaski is the last of his immediate family.
Friends will be received Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, 925 Allison Ave, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, August 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, 320 Henderson Ave, Washington with Father Thomas O’Neil as celebrant. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175.
