Alta Mae Cole Farnella, 81 of Washington, died Monday, August 4, 2014 at Presbyterian Senior Care.
She was born November 27, 1932 in Cherry Valley, the daughter of the late Henry E. Cole and Hazel Logsdon Cole Mace.
Alta was a former employee of Hazel-Atlas Glass and Brockway Glass factory and as a grocery clerk and retail sales clerk for several local businesses.
She was a talented woodworker and in her later years entered her wood pieces in the local fairs and won ribbons for her entries. She enjoyed making crafts, knitting, crochet, painting, reading, cooking and spending time with family and friends. She loved to square dance and attended the local dances. She enjoyed meeting new people and formed many lifelong friendships.
Surviving are her children, Sandy (Jesse) Lowther of Washington, Judy (Bob) Silvers of Prosperity, Jay (Patti) McCracken of Washington; two brothers, Melvin Cole of Washington, Leslie (Elaine) Cole of RI; eight grandchildren, Jaime Day, Kendra Day, Raelan Day, Devin Silvers, Kara Silvers, Joshua McCracken, Francine McCracken and Jarret McCracken; twelve great grandchildren who called her “GG”; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents are two sisters, Mary Cole Frye and Gerda Cole.
Friends will be received Friday, August 8, from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. the time of service at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd, 925 Allison Ave, Washington with Rev. James York officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Gardens.
