Donald "Bud" Willis Barrett

Donald Willis “Bud” Barrett, 81 of Washington, died Monday, August 4, 2014 at Humbert Lane following a short illness. He was born July 17, 1933 in Washington, the son of the late Jesse Barrett and Donice Laughlin Barrett. Mr. Barrett proudly served his country in two branches of the military. At the age of 17 he lied about his age and joined the U.S Army. He was discharged a few months later when it was discovered he was underage. After graduating from Trinity High School in 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the flight deck aboard the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid, where he received the National Defense Service Ribbon. He was employed by Hazel-Atlas, Metro Glass, Country Belle Dairy, McWreath’s Dairy and retired from Washington Steel Corp. in 1998 after 30 years. Bud is survived by his wife of 18 years, Shirley Clark of Washington. He is also survived by one daughter. Vicki Barrett of Washington; three sons, Donald R. (Denise) Barrett, James (Patty) Barrett and John Barrett, and daughter in law Martha Barrett, all of Washington; two stepchildren, Michael (Tracy) Crowe of Washington and Brenda (Butch) Nickeson of Eighty-Four; a brother, Robert C. (Judy) Barrett of Washington; a sister, Judy (Tony) Sensky of Mentor, OH; seven grandchildren, Amanda Barrett, Donald E. Barrett, Matthew Barrett, Thomas Barrett, Beau (Sami Bunnell) Barrett, Michael Barrett, Mark Barrett; three step grandchildren, Jeremiah (Becca) Crowe, Jeffrey Maloy, Zachary Crowe; four great grandchildren, Beau James Barrett Jr., Breonna Barrett, Landon Crowe, Alayna Maloy; many nieces and nephews. Deceased is a sister, Dorothy “Skip” Celani. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 on Friday, August 8, 2014 at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be Monday, August 11, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175.
