John Dennis “Denny” Speicher, 65 of Washington, died of sudden cardiac arrest on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Somerset Hospital.
He was born April 1, 1949 in Washington the son of the late John “Bruz” Speicher and Mary Jane Tucker Speicher.
He was a 1967 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School and a graduate of Penn Commercial.
In 1970 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he served for 20 years. He received a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He was employed as a Residential Program Worker for ARC for several years.
He was catholic by faith and enjoyed playing softball, hunting, and fishing and was a Pittsburgh Sport Enthusiast.
Surviving are a son, Jason (Jenny) Dennis Speicher of Arlington, WA; a sister Dianne McKay of Washington; two grandchildren, Justin and Jacob Speicher of Arlington, WA and a nephew, Matthew Shane McKay of Washington.
Deceased in addition to his parents are a niece, Megan Dianne McKay and a brother in law, Jack E. McKay.
Friends will be received Tuesday, September 9th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Home, 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where a blessing service will be held Wednesday, September 10th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with military honors at a later date.
