William Edward Fender, 72, of Scenery Hill, died on Saturday, September 20, 2014, in his residence.
He was born on August 1, 1941, in Wolfdale, a son of the late Roy E. “Buck” and Wilma Plants McCready Fender.
Mr. Fender had worked for 25 years for Washington Steel Corporation A&P Line, and for 15 years as an over-road truck driver.
A Vietnam War Veteran, he served in the U.S. Army from 1961 until 1967.
He was a lifetime member of the Edwin Scott Linton, Post 175, of the American Legion.
Mr. Fender enjoyed camping and old cars.
On December 8, 1978, he married Sharon L. Thompson Beck, who survives.
Also surviving, are two stepsons, James P. Beck, of Cokeburg, and Mark D, Beck, of Scenery Hill; a brother, James W. (Dot) Fender, of West Middlesex, a half brother, Jeff Fender, of Pittsburgh, and two step brothers, Buddy (Evie) McCready, of Claysville, and Mike (Lynn) Hillman; a half sister, Jessica (Rob) Hotaling, of Maryland, eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Deceased, is a brother, Roy E. “Skip” Fender.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of services, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, McMurray. Military Rites will be accorded graveside, by the Edwin Scott Linton, Post 175, of the American Legion.
