William Ervin Baer, Sr., 64, of Houston, died Saturday, October 4, 2014, in Donnell House.
He was born October 18, 1949, in Washington, a son of the late Edward Earl Baer and Aylia Johnson Baer.
A graduate of Washington High School, Mr. Baer was a veteran of the Army. He served from September 1969, until his honorable discharge in March 1972, as a Specialist, fifth class. His awards included the Expert Rifle Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Army Commendation Medal.
Mr. Baer worked as a laborer at Shenango Steel Mill for 18 ½ years.
On December 27, 1969, he married Sandra Martin, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, William Ervin Baer, Jr., (Tammy) of Cecil and Laurie Bahr (Melvin) of Houston; a sister, Nancy Whitfield of Washington; three grandchildren, Abigail Baer, LCPL Christopher Baer (Charlene) and Jessica Bahr; three great grandchildren, Mya, Carter and Camryn.
Deceased are a brother, Edward Earl Baer; and two sisters, Mary Hutter and Susan Price.
A gathering of friends will be received on Saturday, October 11th, from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m., the time of a memorial service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Military rites will be accorded at the funeral home by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
