Ann Lowry Litman , 86 of Claysville, died Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Washington County Health Center.
She was born August 12, 1928 in Mt. Pleasant Twp., the daughter of the late Lawrence W. and Florence Lowry.
Mrs. Litman graduated from Hickory High School in 1946.
She was a member of the Claysville United Methodist Church, where she served on several committees, and in 2002 was named Mother-of-the-Year. She was formally a member of the Stony Point Methodist Church, where she served as the pianist.
In 1980 she received her Honorary Chapter Farmer degree from the McGuffey FFA and she had been a volunteer Cooking and Gardening Leader for the East Finley Lucky Clovers 4-H Club for over 30 years. She also was a volunteer with the Claysville Fireman’s Auxiliary and a member of the Prosperity and Claysville Homemakers and the former Claysville Grange #1510.
She served Washington County as a Pennsylvania Dairy Herd Improvement Supervisor, earning her certification in 1951.
On May 1, 1954, at the Lowry Dairy, she married George Ruben Litman, who died June 12, 1997. Mr. and Mrs. Litman were lifelong dairy farmers.
Surviving are five daughters, Nancy (Dennis) Lyle of Claysville, Delilah “HP” (Paul “Boz”) Shriver of Avella, Linda (Roy) Ealy of West Findley, Louise (John) Hildreth of Sycamore. Sandra (Bruce) Cowden of Prosperity; son in law, David Kimble of Sycamore; 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; a brother, William (Donna) Lowry of Avella and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Joyce Kimble; a brother Robert D. Lowry; twin sister, Jane Lowry Litman.
Friends will be received Sunday, October, 19, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes, 925 Allison Ave, Washington. Additional visitation will be held at Claysville United Methodist Church Monday, October 20, 2014 from 12 to 1:00 p.m., where services will be held at 1:00 with Pastor Rico Vespa officiating. Burial will follow at West Alexander Cemetery.
