Daniel Patrick McCormick, 90, of Washington, died on Friday, October 31, 2014, in the Washington County Health Center, following an eighteen-month illness.
He was born on December 11, 1923, in Washington, a son of the late Daniel James and Rosella Knox McCormick.
A graduate of Trinity High School, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. For his service, he was awarded the American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. Staff Sergeant McCormick served from April 3, 1943, until his honorable discharge on April 28, 1946.
Mr. McCormick had worked as a mail carrier for the United States Post Office.
He was a member of the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
An avid reader, he also enjoyed watching sports on television.
On October 23, 1943, he married Marion Anderson, who died in 1995.
Surviving, are a son, Dane R. McCormick, of Washington; a daughter, Patricia Price, of Washington; two grandchildren, Matthew Price, and Michelle Thomas; and six great grandchildren, Sierra, Lucas, Derek, Mariah, Madison, and Gavin.
Deceased are a son, Dennis McCormick, and a sister, Betty McCormick.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 4, 2014, in the Washington Cemetery.
Military Rites will be accorded graveside, by the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
