James W. McCullough, 88, of Washington, died Sunday, November 23, 2014, in Washington Hospital.
He was born June 5, 1926, in Waynesburg, a son of James Taylor McCullough and Norma Baker McCullough.
Mr. McCullough served in the Navy from March 13, 1944, until his honorable discharge on May 23, 1946, with a rank of Motor Machinist’s Mate, third class. He was awarded the Pacific Theater Ribbon with three stars, American Theater Ribbon and World War II Victory Medal.
From 1948 until his retirement in 1990, he was co-owner of Lydic Printing.
Mr. McCullough was a member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175, Elks in Washington, Sunset Lodge F&AM 623, Washington-Greene County Caravan, and Washington Country Club, where he enjoyed golfing. He also enjoyed fishing and shooting pool.
On November 13, 1948, he married Minerva “Ann” Davis, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Robert J. McCullough of New York, New York and Thomas J. McCullough of Claysville; a daughter, Susan A. Poehlmann (Gary) of Richmond, Virginia; a brother, John A. McCullough of Washington; a sister, Grace Barnes; two grandchildren, Kevin C. and Michael J. Poehlmann; and a sister-in-law, Sara Jane McCullough.
Deceased is a brother, Roy McCullough.
At the request of the deceased, services and burial in Greene County Memorial Park were private.
