Julian “Jay” Roe Plants, 73 of Washington, died Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the Washington Hospital.
He was born July 28, 1941 in Claysville the son of the late George Plants and Mildred Hancher Plants.
He was Pentecostal by faith.
Jay worked at Washington Mold for 26 years as a furnace and crane operator.
He was a member of the Washington Moose Lodge #22, played the guitar for the Country Image and Country Shakers bands. He loved to joke and enjoyed people.
On July 27, 2002 he married Mary McCartney who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Keith (Deb) Plants of Kentucky, and Wesley Plants of Weirton, WV; two daughters Robin Plants of Pittsburgh and Michelle Plants of East Findlay; two brothers George (Shirley) Plants of Claysville and Rudy (Lotus) Plants of Avella; a sister, Mildred Moore of Dutch Fork; eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; and his first wife, Sharon Paxton Plants Johnson.
Deceased are seven brothers, Larry, Duane, Gaylord, Gerald, Roger, Grayson, and David Plants; a sister Patty Plants.
Friends will be received Friday, November 28th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Linda Mankey officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery.
