Josephine Providence “Jo” Stewart, 83, of Washington, died Wednesday, January 28, 2015, in Donnell House. She had been in declining health the past two years.
She was born, February 15, 1931, the third daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline Natale Mantia.
Mrs. Stewart graduated from Immaculate Conception High School. She worked in the admissions department at Washington Hospital, retiring after 18 years. Previously, she had worked at RCA in Meadowlands as an administrative assistant.
Mrs. Stewart enjoyed playing slot machines and watching Pirates baseball.
She was married to Fred A. Stewart for 48 years before he passed away on January 11, 1998.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Jo, wife of Donald Jaecks of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Karen Leek of Washington; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several special nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two sisters Rosemary Hanna and Connie Kluna.
A Blessing Service will be held on Saturday, January 31st at 10 a.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Father Don Chortos officiating. Burial will be private in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
