Edgar Petrisek, 98, of Washington, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015.
He was the son of George and Julianne (Getto) Petrisek.
Surviving are his wife of 76 years, Elizabeth (Demko) Petrisek; son Edgar (Jean) Petrisek of Pittsburgh; sister Mary Behanna of Bentleyville; brother Max Petrisek of Lancaster; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Petrisek was a veteran of WWII, serving as a technical sergeant in the Army from July 1943 to January 1946, participating in campaigns in the Northern Solomons and for the Southern Philippines liberation. He earned the Distinguished Service Cross, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with two bronze battle stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze battle star, the World War II Victory Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
Edgar worked as an electrician in the Marianna mine. He grew up on a farm in Bentleyville and was a lifelong gardener, generously sharing the fruits of his labor with family, friends, and wildlife.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4 till 6 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where a funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, February 2nd. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at the mausoleum by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
